I looked, and it’s been a long while since I really whined about anything so I’m kinda due….

Hooked up the new house phone a few days ago…. got my first sales call yesterday. Only took ’em 2 weeks to get the new number on a list and pass it around.

Yay caller ID.

got my first ‘or current resident’ mail today
I say ‘my’ because previously it was all addressed to someone else or current resident. Now it’s addressed to me or current resident

  1. WTF? Have you put the number on the do-not-call registry? I’ll do it if you haven’t.

  2. I highly suggest the strategy of expressing extreme interest in their product, then asking if they can hold on a minute while you (get your spouse/answer the door/turn off the stove/let the dog in) and leave the phone sitting on the counter.

    When you eventually hear the dial tone, put the phone back on the hook.

  3. If I don’t recognize the number I usually answer the phone in Norweigian (with my vast command of the language it’s probably something like “why yes, I’d like another pickled kipper!).

    That usually throws them off.
