Howdy y’all,
We’ve had a visitor to the Shooter Map from Canada (she actually left a comment and everything, I’m so excited). Now, currently there are no volunteer mentors in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, but I’ll go poke around the discussion boards a bit and see if we can find one.
If anyone knows anyone who knows anyone … chat up your friends and shooter buddies.
please and thanks.

today I’m making a trip I’ve been dreading for a while …. the S&W 1911 has to go to the gun shop.
During the last cleaning I discovered what appears to be a crack in what should be metal.
Now these old tired eyes are even older than my old and tired glasses so it may be a scratch and not a crack.
If it is a crack I’ll be seriously disappointed … the pistol is barely a year old and has made less than half a dozen trips to the range. I’ve never put a full box of ammo through it on any one visit, so it’s reeeeaaaaly low mileage.
If it is a scratch I’ll still be disappointed …. it lives in a padded box, so unless I scratched it somehow with a toothbrush coated with Hoppes it seems unlikely to be damaged from anything I’ve done to it.
update: machine mark apparently. I guess my eyes have improved enough since I bought it that I can actually see it now. I did find a similar mark on the opposite side, so the idea of machine marks is ok. Still, it seems a bit irregular for a machine mark imo.

The Smallest Minority, LuckyGunner.com, Soldier’s Angels & gun bloggers are gettin’ it done good ol’ boy style.
We’ve managed to bypass PayPal! Another sponsor of the Rendezvous, LuckyGunner.com, an ammo site, is doing the on-line ticket sales for us with all proceeds (minus the 3% credit card fee) going to Soldiers’ Angels. Soldiers’ Angels is still taking phone orders for those who don’t want to purchase on-line. Details here.
in spite of the opposition, taking care of the troops is still a priority to some people and as a Veteran I thank you all.

here on the south side of suburbia we get weird noises and with all the brick walls we get some strange echoes at times.
it could have been firecrackers. Odd to have single firecrackers go off every 10-20 seconds for half an hour. On a misc day @ noon.
or
a nailgun. Some people fix their own fence. Pretty loud for a nailgun I think, I could hear it inside my house over the TV.
or
somebody target shooting in their yard. Occasional rattle after a bang… maybe a target falling?
Am I going to go verify? Nope, not my job.
I’m guessing since it stopped immediately when the B&W cruisers showed up it maybe wasn’t a nailgun. Coincidence maybe. I’m pretty positive it wasn’t anything large caliber, and I don’t think it sounded quite right for a .22.
Decent response time. Not faster than a speeding bullet by any means, but faster than breaking open a new box of ammo and reloading.
